The Living Boat Trust has been successful in its application for a  hire and drive licence from Marine and Safety Tasmania. This extends to our fleet of small rowing boats (Grebes and the Huon Rat) and applies to the waters immediately adjacent to our workshop in Franklin. A comprehensive booking in process will establish competency and therefore limits of hire.  Instruction is available for $15 for a 20 minute lesson.

We are in the process of establishing a commercial survey for the Capricornia so we can hire her for Egg Island tours

LBT members will generally be eligible for a 30% discount on all hire charges

Refundable deposit of $100 on all boat hire

Grebe class

$65 per boat for a half day, full day $100

Late fee will be $10 per every half hour.

Huon Rat

$45 per half day, $80 per full day Late fee will be $10 per every half hour. This boat may be hired unskippered.

Swiftsure operates as a training vessel only

1. •2 hour training including rowing for 6 rowers; $30 each, minimum of five rowers and two instructors required
